This case study details an Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) installation at a Rectory in Kent, owned by the local Diocese. As part of their ongoing commitment to achieving carbon neutrality, the Diocese identified this retrofit project as an important first step, marking their very first ASHP installation.
While there was some initial caution and internal debate about the effectiveness of ASHPs, the Diocese ultimately decided to proceed with Solaris Energy, drawn by the team's expertise and comprehensive approach. Reflecting on the early stages of the project, the client noted:
"In my opinion, it all started with our first meetings. I immediately knew I could trust every one of your team to guide us and deliver a system that exceeded our expectations."
The installation included a full-service package covering every aspect of the project, from initial heat loss calculations and noise assessments to system design and installation.
The system features a 10kW Vaillant aroTHERM plus ASHP that supplies all heating and hot water needs, paired with a Joule 250-litre cylinder, sensoCOMFORT controls, and an IWTM P1 unit to provide chemical-free corrosion protection.
To ensure optimal performance, the system is remotely monitored, allowing for proactive maintenance and rapid remote diagnostics in the event of any issues. Following the successful completion of the project, the client commented:
"For our first ASHP installation, you delivered on time, on budget, with reliable and energy-efficient heating on a retrofit basis. From my experience, it could not have gone better."
Despite some initial hesitancy, the success of the project will help to provide a strong foundation for future projects and has effectively demonstrated the benefits of heat pumps.
